My name is Allison Hammond and I am Fused Glass Artist.My glassing journey began by attending a 3hr workshop whilst on holiday. I knew then that
this is what I wanted to learn more about. So on my return I attended a local course, where
I found a love for fusing glass and the wonderful range of posibilities was limited only by my skill and imagination.
As a 'fused glass artist' living in bexley, the inspiration for my work is drawn form the seasons and my interaction with them, my memories of places visited and those I spend time with.This is why I chose to call my craft business 'Seasons In Glass'.
Seasons In Glass
Glass Fussing allows me to producing a variety of pieces using different types of glass. These can be Opel / Transparent sheet glass, Stringers (thin rods), Crushed Glass (frit) of various grades, and Glass paints.
The combination of these mediums allow me to build up from a baselayer to create a wide range of imagery - just a few of which are shown below.All my work is handmade, there are no machining process other than a spinning grinding wheel to help shape curved profiles. All pieces are then fired up to 12 hours each time in my studio kiln. Different temperature schedules will give different effects and some parts require multiple firing.With a hand made process, this crafting process will never result in two identicle pieces, which provides a certain level of uniquness. Despite this, I often make batches of similar items, particularly for seasonal craft fairs where I have found people particularlly like certain items.
