My name is Allison Hammond and I am Fused Glass Artist.My glassing journey began by attending a 3hr workshop whilst on holiday. I knew then that
this is what I wanted to learn more about. So on my return I attended a local course, where
I found a love for fusing glass and the wonderful range of possibilities was limited only by my skill and imagination.
As a 'fused glass artist' living in bexley, the inspiration for my work is drawn from the seasons and my interaction with them, my memories of places visited and those whom I spend time with.This is why I chose to call my craft business 'Seasons In Glass'.
Seasons In Glass
Glass Fussing allows me to produce a variety of textured pieces using different types of glass. These can be Opel / Transparent sheet glass, Stringers (thin rods), Crushed Glass (frit) of various grades, and Glass paints.
The combination of these mediums allow me to build up from a baselayer to create a wide range of imagery - just a few of which are shown on these pages.All my work is handmade, there are no machining process other than with the use of a specialist grinding wheel to help shape curved profiles. All pieces are then fired up to 12 hours each time in my studio kiln. Different temperature schedules will give different results, with some parts requiring multiple firing where they are made up of sets of hand made components.Such is with all hand-made processes, there will never be two truly identical pieces. This, provides a certain level of uniqueness. Despite this, I often make batches of similar items, particularly where I have found there are some obvious seasonal favourites.
